Working With Gartner Experts

Independence and Objectivity Are Paramount

At Gartner, we are committed to objectivity, trust, communication and respect to the vendors and technology service providers in the areas covered by our research.

Gartner delivers actionable, objective insight to executives and their teams. In service to our clients, we accept information broadly across vendors and technology service providers (TSPs).

This page outlines how we engage with TSPs to ensure our research is complete, unbiased and robust. When an organization shares information with Gartner, here are a few elements to be mindful of:

Analyst ethics

Our analysts develop their viewpoints without influence, stating the facts as they see them. To ensure analytical independence, accuracy and integrity, Gartner maintains a Code of Conduct that describes our core values and the boundaries our analysts and associates are required to observe.

Industry independence

Gartner does not sell technology, nor do we implement technology solutions or projects. We operate independently, with proven research methodologies refined over decades. This means our analysts and consultants are unbiased, providing insight and advice our clients can trust.

Proprietary research methodologies

Our management and technology insights come from a combination of expert-led, practitioner-sourced and data-driven research models. The insights are delivered in actionable, consumable ways through proprietary methodologies, including Gartner Score, Magic Quadrants, Hype Cycles and more.

Objectivity

Gartner’s research is free from external influence or interference, and our associates who create research cannot invest in firms in their coverage areas. The Office of the Ombuds reviews claims of bias, unfairness or inaccuracy.
