POSITION TITLE: Weatherization Installer
REPORTS TO: Crew Supervisor
STATUS: Non-exempt
WORK SCHEDULE: Full Time
SALARY RANGE: $17.00/HR
JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, installs attic insulation, energy conservation devices, and makes minor repairs on homes, including single family dwellings and multiple family dwellings. Will be required to assess homes for work needed through visual inspection as well as Blower Door Technology. Will be required to operate agency vehicles and/or tools and equipment connected with the assessment and installation of Weatherization materials. Will also be required input information into a PC Computer for setting up each job and drawing down materials.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 |
Assess homes for measures and repairs needed utilizing the blower door technology and CO2 testing as well as visual inspection.
|
 |
Enter data into the PC Computer setting up each job and drawing down of materials, supplies and cost of sub-contractors.
|
 |
Load agency vehicle with materials and control inventory and stock on hand.
|
 |
Installation of a variety of energy conservation measures on the homes of agency clients.
|
 |
Perform minor home repairs as needed in the installation of Weatherization materials which may include installation of doors, glass, window replacement, fans and heaters.
|
 |
Draw down materials and load the needed equipment and materials in the agency vehicle.
|
 |
Travel to job sites located throughout San Mateo County in a safe, timely and responsible manner.
|
 |
Accurately and neatly complete paperwork related to installation of measures.
|
 |
Clean up the job site and remove all debris.
|
 |
Maintain a safe and clean working environment at all times.
|
 |
Check agency vehicles each time utilized, writing on the log the repairs and maintenance needed.
|
 |
Clean out and maintain a clean agency vehicle after each usage.
|
 |
Safeguard and utilize hand tools, power tools, equipment in a safe, responsible manner.
|
 |
Report any accident, irregularity and/or shortage in materials hand tools, power tools and equipment immediately.
|
 |
Recognize problems of clients and refer to the Community Service Worker.
|
 |
Return materials not used to Warehouse Technician.
|
 |
Other related duties as assigned.
|
 |
Consistent and regular attendance is required by this position.
|
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
 |
Completion of approved Weatherization Training, including Blower Door Training.
|
 |
May assist in crew assignments requiring utilization of many crafts on the site to include HVAC.
|
 |
May drive to local building materials company to pick up rush-needed items.
|
 |
Must report all safety hazards to Safety Committee for immediate action.
|
 |
Consistent and regular attendance is required by this position.
|
EDUCATION:
 |
High School Diploma (or equivalent) preferred. Trade schools or apprentice programs highly desirable. Must have sufficient education to read, perform simple calculations, and keep records.
|
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
 |
Two years training/experience in light construction or related fields.
|
 |
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
|
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:

Basic general construction trade and maintenance principles and practices.

Energy conservation principles and theory.
|
 |
Techniques of installation of Weatherization materials.
|
 |
Basic Home Assessment Techniques to include blower door and CO2 testing.

 |
Housing, Weatherization codes and DEO Weatherization Installation Standards as well as Policies and Procedures.

Basic arithmetic and applications.
|
Skills in:

Use of standard tools and materials of the building trade as well as blower door and CO2 testing equipment.

Basic carpentry.

Operation of Attic Insulation machines.

Must be bondable.

Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License.
|

Must be insurable under the agency's vehicular insurance policy.

Bi-lingual, bi-cultural capabilities desirable.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling and twisting.

 |
Hand manipulation is required in simple grasping, power grasping, pushing and pulling and fine manipulation.

Intermittent work above and below the shoulder level.
|
 |
Must lift up to 100 lbs and carry up to 25 ft.
|
 |
Must climb stairs while carrying materials weighing between 40-60 lbs.
|
 |
Must be able to drive trucks and operate construction hand tools.

Uses and works around construction hand tools, dust generated from these tools and exposed to noise generated from these tools.

Performs all administrative
support functions for the
Executive Director,
writing/typing correspondence
and memos, posting and
distributing the mail, screening
his/her written and oral
communications, making travel
arrangements, and maintaining
well-organized files.

While exercising creativity and
independent judgment develops
and maintains Administrative
Policies and Procedures
outlining the office management
systems.

Manages the arrangements for the
annual offsite Board/Staff
training meeting, including:
soliciting proposals from

and logistics; planning for
special needs; arranging for

Receptionist duties.

Participates in setting policy,
as needed and ensures
organizational policies are
followed, when appropriate.

Operates and arranges for the
maintenance of office equipment.
Researches and makes
recommendations for purchasing
any new equipment or upgrades.

Is responsible for the
maintaining the petty cash fund
and allocates payments in
compliance with fiscal policies
and procedures.

Maintains the overall agency
calendar of activities and
Administrative Staff time
off/leaves of absence so plans
for adequate staffing can be
made.

 |
Participates in the compilation
and typing of proposals for
submission to funding agencies.
|
 |
Assists in the compilation and
submission of the contracts and
grants awarded to the agency.
|
 |
Acts as a resource person for
and prepares agendas, notices
and takes minutes at the
Executive, Financial &
Personnel, Planning & Programs,
Safety, By-Laws, and Fundraising
Committee meetings.

 |
Accurately
represents programs and services
to the public, partner
providers, and clients.
|
Must have:

A.A. Degree in Business and/or
Administrative Assistant related
studies desirable.
Four years of
progressively responsible
experience in secretarial work
is acceptable in lieu of a
degree.

Three years
in office administration with
executive support and/or Board
support experience.
|
 |
Excellent interpersonal skills
required. Able to work
respectfully and successfully
with employees of diverse
backgrounds at all levels of an
organization.

 |
Professionalism, patience, and
flexibility a must.

Strong experience in Microsoft
Office Suite, particularly Word,
Excel and Outlook. PowerPoint
skills also desirable.
Preference given to candidates
