HOUSING PRESERVATION GRANT INFORMATION

Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) funds are provided by grants from the USDA Rural Development Housing & Community Facilities Programs and are administered in San Mateo County by the Community Action Agency of San Mateo.  The HPG program provides funds for the repair or rehabilitation of low- or very low-income housing occupied by the owner.  Very low income is defined as below 50 percent of the area median income (AMI); low income is between 50 and 80 percent of AMI. 

These funds can only be used for assistance in rural areas. In San Mateo County, the areas served are El Granada, Montara, Moss Beach and South Coastside Census Tracts 6135, 6136, 6137 and 6138.98.

This program includes, but is not limited to: upgrading electrical and plumbing work, repainting, repair and replacement of porches, cornices, doors, awnings, windows and windowpanes, fences, roofs, driveways and floors.
